Ready to Capture This Sensational, Wonderful Life
Hi, I’m Emily! I love photography and everything about it. I find it so fascinating that it’s one of the only mediums of art that allows a memory to be frozen in time, even just for a second. With that being written, my life is made whole when I’m capturing moments that last a lifetime; and the bonus is the interesting people with whom I’m able to connect.
I’ve photographed a wide variety of events; from beautiful weddings to large amounts of content for high school yearbooks. I remember when I first received a letter in the mail saying I was accepted to Sheridan College for their Bachelor of Photography Degree Program and how thrilled I was. I couldn’t wait to get my feet wet and explore the art of photography. Now, three years later, I can say that I’m even more excited to graduate and carve my place into a dynamic and ever-changing industry. I’m unsure exactly where my degree and energy will take me, but I think that’s what’s fun about it. Life isn’t about having everything decided for you. It’s about seizing particular opportunities that come your way and there’s added excitement when a few surprises are thrown into the loop.
Karen was so kind and generous to take me in as a co-op student and allow me to complete all my hours, as it is a requirement for graduating. Having worked with her for only two short weeks, I have already learned so much. I’ve become quick to realize that being a photographer is definitely not just about taking a memory card full of photographs. It’s about being social, organized, thoughtful, and in most cases – a businessperson.
I can’t wait to open my mind to many more things during my time here. To learn everything from Karen that I possibly can. Some days might be a bit stressful, but that’s a given. Others, however, may include the swaddling and cozying of tiny, precious humans; and who can be stressed when you’re in the presence of a miracle.

I'm a mother of four that understands the overwhelm of the every day, but I've learned how to embrace and enjoy the beauty of it. I believe we should be able to enjoy this life we chose.
I've been a professional photographer since 2005. I've helped hundreds of mamas to slow down, pause and use photography as a reminder to take a breath.
